New MD for St Albans City Band

The Saints get a new man to direct things for 2003

 

St Albans' City Brass Band, still celebrating their promotion to the 2nd Section of the UK's brass band rankings, are delighted to announce the appointment of a their new Musical Director, Stuart Garman, following Bill Rumford’s retirement. Bill had guided the band from the 4th to the 2nd Section in just 3 years and the band would like to express their sincere thanks for all his efforts during this time and wish him the very best for the future.

Stuart Garman was brought up in the Salvation Army brass band world and, with the renowned Enfield Band, played in many of the world’s famous concert halls and took part in numerous radio, television and studio recordings. On the soprano cornet, Stuart gained an international reputation which including a period with the Sun Life band. Stuart also had a very successful spell conducting the Thornbury Band in Bristol.

The band are currently busy in preparation for a number of Christmas engagements in the Hertfordshire area. The band fulfil a number of regular engagements in and around the county and have recently received excellent press reviews for their contribution towards the Harpenden Music Festival and a collaborative concert with the St Albans Symphony Orchestra in a performance of Balshazzar’s Feast.

The Corsham Band

August 16 • Due to work commitments, a vacancy has arisen for a Tenor Trombone player. First or Second position available. We are a newly promoted Second Section band with a new MD and a friendly and enthusiastic team.


Lofthouse Brass Band

August 15 • Lofthouse Brass Band require a DRUMMER to join the team. We are a friendly 3rd section band. This year saw us achieve 5th place at the Yorkshire Area and we will be working hard in the new year to improve on this in the hope for promotion to 2nd section.
