Carlton name new Main signings

Carlton Main are putting new faces in place for the 2003 season already.

The rebuilding at Carlton Main Frickley continues a pace under the baton of William Rushworth with the announcement of further appointments to the band. They have sent a press release to us which reads as follows:

Carlton Main are very pleased to announce a number of significant signings starting with the appointment of Fred Etherington as Band Manager. Fred has been a friend of William Rushworth for many years and William approached Fred a few weeks ago to come and help at Frickley, as a Band Manager was desperately needed. Fred has previously been Band Manager for Hammonds / YBS and more recently has been involved with The Kings of Brass. Fred came to a rehearsal and by the weekend we were delighted that he accepted the position. We are certain he will be a huge help in turning the band back round to more successful times.

On the playing side we are pleased to announce the appointment of Ian Wright on Principal Euphonium. Ian recently came third in the British Open Solo Championships and has already proved to be a key signing following his first concert in Castleford on Tuesday. We are equally as pleased that Jane Wright, Ian's wife, has joined the cornet section and Jane Walker has joined the Horn Section and taken on the Contest Secretary duties. Also we welcome Stuart Creighton on B flat Bass, who joined before Spennymoor, and more recently we welcome back Carl Ryan on percussion, following a few years at Sellers International.

It has been common knowledge that the Band has had financial and player problems this year, but we are certain the new signings will go along way towards the band's come back and we will also have some exciting news regarding a major sponsor to announce in the New Year.

If anyone is interested in joining Carlton Main Frickley we do still have a vacancy for a Flugel Horn or top class Cornet player. Any enquires, please contact Kirsty Abbotts on 07748 300102.
