Bendix Kingswood Band entertain and reshuffle

Welcome homecoming for Brighouse flugel

Steve Rogers, flugel with the Brighouse and Rastrick Band made a welcome return to his home town of Midsomer Norton in Somerset, as guest soloist with his old band Bendix Kingswood at an annual concert organised by the Midsomer Norton and Radstock Lions Club to raise money for the Tom Huyton Park Appeal.

Along with Steve and the band the concert featured popular local folk group Horizon, which meant the capacity audience were not only kept entertained by compere Adrian Dando they treated to a wide selection of music.

The music from the band included performances of Aranjues mon Amour and Philip Sparke’s Song and Dance by Steve Rogers.

With that concert successfully concluded the band are now looking forward to their forthcoming annual concert with the Barrs Court School Choir to be held at the Kingswood Congregational
Church on Saturday 13th December at 7.30 pm which will see a good few changes in the line up of the band.

Some new members have recently joined a few moves have been undertaken to strengthen the line-up.

On the Euph/Baritone section they have welcomed Julia Abdy onto 1st Baritone with Julie May making the move onto 2nd Euphonium to join Graham Anstis. Hazel Price and Rachel Mason have joined the horn section on 1st and 2nd respectively and Tim Bainbridge joins Bb Bass.

The changes haven’t stopped there though as Mark Bentley joins Jayne Anstis on 2nd Cornet with Nick Wilmot making a big move from Eb Bass to 3rd Cornet!

On top of that they have also announced that Bob Shore and Tony Sheerman have agreed to make up the trombone section alongside Principal, David Hayward so some major moves around the stands.

All these moves leave the band to looking to recruit a percussionist to make their push once again for a confident and successful New Year.
