Could Mr McCann be making a playing comeback?

Could Phillip McCann be the man to make a short term return to assist the National Champions? The rumour mill is in overtime again!

It seems you cannot keep the National Champions out of the news, as once more the rumour mill has come up with some unsubstantiated news that Phillip McCann could be in line to make a helping hand return to his former alma mater at Fairey's.

It seems that the former Black Dyke Principal Cornet may help the band out in the short term period for concerts only as something of a temporary measure before the announcement of the new Principal Cornet for the band can be revealed.

Phillip McCann of course made his name in the late 1960's with the band before he departed to further glory at Black Dyke. He did make a return a few years ago, but has primarily been making a fine repuation for himself as a MD with the likes of Whitburn and the now rejuvenated Sellers International.

Bookies in the banding world have been taking bets on who the new man will be at Fairey's (it will be a man it seems), but as yet we understand no decision on a permenant new Principal has been made. Names mentioned range from Matt Baker to Lee Rigg or a return to former Principal, Brian Taylor. We will let you know when we can.
