Jacket upstages new euph star

Thoresby's new principal euph has been upstaged it seems by his splendid new jacket!

Last week Thoresby Colliery Band's newly appointed Principal Euphonium player, Simon Willis made his debut solo with the band at the Edwinstowe Welfare. This week he was upstaged by his new superbly crafted band jacket made by Mr Handley making its debut appearance on the handsome frame of the aforementioned soloist at the Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham before a capacity audience on both Monday 20th and Wednesday 22nd December. Simon played O Holy Night sporting the made to measure jacket.

Thoresby entertained under the direction of Conductor, Martin Heartfield with items including Rimsky Korsakov's Dance of the Tumblers, Rutter's Candlelight Carol, Trumpet Blues and Cantabile amongst others before concluding with Snell's superb arrangement of Wagner's Procession to the Minster.

The concert concluded the 2004 diary for Thoresby who look forward to 2005 with optimism having signed a number of quality players in the Summer and who have a first class conducting team in the form of Martin Heartfield and Andy Duncan.

Thanks to Simon Oates,
