Any old Regents out there?

Regent Brass is iviting any old players to come along to a 20th Anniversary Concert.

The Press Release from the band reads as follows:

Regent Brass is inviting all former players to attend its 20th Anniversary Concert at the Church of the Ascension, The Avenue, Wembley on Sunday 23rd January at 2pm.

The concert marks the 20th Anniversary of the first ever rehearsal of the band, which was formed in January 1985 to cater for young brass musicians in the London Borough of Brent. Only two months later, Regent Brass won second place at the 4th Section area heats, qualifying it to represent the London and Southern Counties in the National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall.

Regent rose rapidly through the sections and has now appeared at the National Finals on seven occasions. In 1988, the band won the Third Section nationals and last autumn, it won the SCABA Championship Section at Folkestone with a performance of Cloudcatcher Fells by John McCabe, who is a Patron of the band.

We have had some brilliant players over the years... Not all of them will be able to attend the concert but we would still like to hear from them...Band Chairman Adrian Parker

Band Chairman Adrian Parker said: “It is no mean achievement to create and sustain a successful band in London, where there is a high turnover of people and there are so many activities competing for leisure time. We have had some brilliant players over the years from throughout the UK and from North America, Australia, New Zealand and Europe. Not all of them will be able to attend the concert but we would still like to hear from them so we can keep them informed about the band’s progress.”

The Band will present an entertaining programme featuring music from the band’s first two decades, including it‘s early winning test piece, A Saddleworth Festival Overture by Goff Richards. Current Musical Director Richard Ward and founding MD Paul Fensom will share the conducting duties.

The concert will be followed by an informal social event for current and former players, friends and families.

Tickets for the concert are available from Stuart Gadsden on (020) 8952 2097 or via e-mail from
