Dr Robert Childs has announced his resignation from his role of Music Advisor to Swiss Championship Section band Brass Band Fribourg.

The Coy MD, has been associated with the band for more than a decade, but after directing them to a podium finish at this year's Swiss National Championship in Montreux, he has decided to take a break.

Enjoyed every minute

Bob told 4BR: "I've enjoyed every minute of working with this fine ensemble and wish them well in the future. I've made some very good friends during my time with the band, especially solo baritone player Regis Gobet who initially invited me to work with Fribourg back in 2000."

Brass Band Fribourg can never thank him enough for the exceptional qualities which helped make Fribourg so successful over those 10 yearsChairman, Marc Morandi

National titles

During the past decade Bob has worked closely with conductor Arsene Duc and more recently with Jean-François Michel. The combinations have resulted in three National titles and podium finishes at other major Swiss events.

Sadness

Brass Band Fribourg, Chairman Marc Morandi told 4BR: "It is with sadness that we have heard Bob’s decision. Nevertheless, we fully understand and respect his choice. Brass Band Fribourg can never thank him enough for the exceptional qualities which helped make Fribourg so successful over those 10 years. We wish Bob a future full of great success and every player is looking forward to seeing him again."

Bob concluded; "Whoever takes over this great band as Music Advisor will be joining one of the best brass bands in Switzerland."
