Army ready for logistics of brass band set ups

The players that will initially form the three new CAMUS brass bands will soon be on the move to their new homes.

British Army brass band

Following the exclusive news broken on prime time national radio in Wales as part of the recent ‘Brass Day’ celebrations that the Corps of Army Music will be setting up one of their three new UK brass bands in South Wales, it has also been announced that the players for the new Corps of Army Music (CAMUS) brass bands have now been selected.

New locations

An Army spokesperson exclusively told 4BR: "The musicians are already in the process of getting ready to move to their new locations in Preston, Cardiff and Staffordshire as part of the re-organisation.

Much of the early part of 2014 will be spent trialling new instruments, arranging new music and fitting uniforms so that the bands are immediately ready to support the Army from after Easter."

Created stir

As was announced on Radio Wales on Wednesday evening, the bands will follow the traditional brass band instrumentation with an additional trombone and soprano for robustness as a marching band.

The spokesperson added: “The previous announcements on 4BR have already created quite a bit of interest with enquiries coming from musicians playing in some of the UKs top ten bands.

We are welcoming players who wish to find out more about a musical career and we urge people to get in touch. It is the opportunity of a life time for brass band players."
