Canadian musician is awarded national honour for his skill as a world-renowned trumpet soloist.

 

Congratulations are due to trumpet player Jens Lindemann, who has been become a Member of the Order of Canada in the country’s latest honours list.

Highest degree

The prestigious award is made to those who have displayed the ‘highest degree of merit, an outstanding level of talent and service, or an exceptional contribution to Canada and humanity.’

Established in 1967 by Queen Elizabeth II, the Order of Canada is the cornerstone of the Canadian Honours System, and recognises outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation.

They desire a better country

Since its creation, more than 6000 people from all sectors of society have been invested into the Order, whose motto is ‘Desiderantes Meliorem Patriam’ (They desire a better country).

World renowned

Jens Lindemann, C.M. was recognised for what the citation read as, ‘..his skill as a world-renowned trumpet soloist, and for his support of Canadian musicians and music students.’

Daellenbach award

In addition the announcement was also made that Conrad ‘Chuck' Daellenbach, one of the founders of the internationally acclaimed brass ensemble, Canadian Brass also received the honour.

The citation noted: ‘For popularising classical music, notably as a founder of the Canadian Brass, one of our nation’s most internationally renowned classical music groups.’
