Crookhall Colliery, Hammonds Sauce and Watford Silver were printed in the programme but did not compete.

Prizes:

1st: £75 plus £2000 Gold Trophy plus the "Sunday Chronicle" Trophy.
2nd: £40
3rd: £30
4th: £25
5th: £15
6th: £10

The winning band played a short concert after the announcement of the results, plus a broadcast on the BBC on the 11th September.

A collection was made for the Bandsmen's Empire Home and Shrine Memorial Fund was made at the end of the contest.

Delph Band

May 15 • We are seeking an enthusiastic and musically skilled Associate Conductor to lead and develop our band alongside our current Musical Director Phil Goodwin. . Rehearsals are Mondays and Wednesdays, 8-10pm at Delph Band Club.


Tintwistle Band

May 15 • We have a vacancy for a soprano cornet, and with lots of exciting engagements coming up we would love to get this seat filled!. We rehearse every Monday and Thursday 8-10pm at our own bandroom in Tintwistle, under the baton of our superb MD, Jim Henson.


Chinnor Silver

May 11 • We are looking for PERCUSSIONISTS to join us as we head into an exciting period for the band.Good and varied diary ahead.. We rehearse on Wednesdays in our own bandroom (so none of that tedious setting up and down)
