Stephen has been the Resident Musical Director of Grimethorpe Colliery Band, Resident Conductor of the Carlton Main Frickley Colliery band and Musical Director of Enderby, City of Cambridge, Bedford Town, Nottingham City Transport, South Yorkshire Police and Barnsley Building Society bands, as well as guest conducting many other bands including Hepworth, Sellers International and Yorkshire Imps.

He has spent extended spells living abroad as a School Principal and Inspector, but whilst in the UK has gained extensive experience conducting bands at all levels within Yorkshire, Midlands and London & Southern Counties regions.

As a player and Conductor Steve has performed all over the world, at venues across Europe, America, Canada and Australia, and on BBC Radio, TV and even the big screen with The UES Steels Stocksbridge Band in the hit film The Full Monty!

Stephen comes from a Salvation Army background and studied Euphonium and Conducting for his Bachelor of Arts and Conducting for his Master of Arts Degrees at the University of Salford, under the guidance of Roy Newsome and David King.

July 3 • Haverhill Silver Band (championship section) seeks a PRINCIPAL CORNET. This is a superb opportunity to lead East Anglia's premier brass band on the concert and contest stage (including the Senior Cup and Whit Friday).


Chinnor Silver

July 3 • Our COMMUNITY BAND meet fortnightly on a Monday morning (next rehearsal 7th) and we welcome any players who want an extra blow.. We require no allegiance just come and enjoy the friendly blow with coffee and cake thrown in.(Its all free)
