Welcome to the 172nd British Open Brass Band Championship

Excitement is already building around Symphony Hall as the first players and supporters arrive to check out the hall, buy their programmes and study scores.

The draw took place at 8.30am this morning, and we will post it here as soon as the judges have taken their seats in the box.

Until then, there is plenty of last minute preparation going on before we get to hear Philip Sparke's 'Music of the Spheres' — the first Sparke work ever set at the British Open in his 75th birthday year.
