African Odyssey in Macclesfield

A new composition from a young composer set for Macclesfield.

Macclesfield

A new composition by Macclesfield young composer Mark Scott will be one of the highlights of a forthcoming joint charity concert by The Bollington Band and The Macclesfield Youth Brass Band this weekend.

African Odyssey

Mark, a founder member of Macclesfield Youth Brass Band and former Fallibroome High School pupil, has just completed his first year studies in composition at Birmingham Conservatoire.

His 'African Odyssey', is a set of 8 symphonic scenes exploring the ideas and traditions of Africa.

Inspired

Mark was inspired to write the 16 minute piece by some visiting students from Starehe School in Nairobi who performed at a joint concert with the youth band last year.

Proceeds from the concert will be split between the Martyn Donaldson Music Trust and the Macclesfield Castle Rotary Club charities.
