Elland enjoy double Brighouse success

The Elland Band organisation enjoy a great double at the Brighouse Contest.

 

Elland Silver and Elland Silver Youth bands are celebrating after enjoying success at the recent Brighouse March contest

Youth winners

The Youth band led by Samantha Harrison put on a fine show to win first place overall in the Youth Section and the Deportment prize. The youngest player went to Elland Youth Band young percussionist Theo Fieldhouse aged 7.

The teams of rowers did a sterling job and some 30 members of all sections of the band enjoyed a wonderful social event4BR

Looking forward

The Youth Band is now looking forward to representing Calderdale in the National Music for Youth Festival at Birmingham Symphony Hall this week.

The Senior band led by David Essex won the Second Section prize.

The bands sponsored row across Lake Windermere on June 28th was a great success and early indications are that over £1000 has been raised towards their new building fund.

The teams of rowers did a sterling job and some 30 members of all sections of the band enjoyed a wonderful social event by the side of the lake sharing a huge picnic and the children and some parents taking a swim in the lake.

July 1 • Town Hall Birmingham and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire will host the 2027 and 2028 British Open Spring Festival contests as long term plans are put in place following feedback.
