Dyke set for charitable celebration

The double National Champions are set to celebrate their 22nd win by supporting a great cause.

Black Dyke

Fresh from their record breaking 22nd National Championship triumph at the Royal Albert Hall on the weekend, Nicholas Childs and Black Dyke will celebrate with a special concert for the Mencap charity in Wigan this Thursday.

Great support

Dr Nicholas Childs told 4BR: "The band were in outstanding form and the audience reaction said it all, with the cheering still resounding in our ears. It's great to be able to support this charity so soon after the triumph — it puts everything into perspective."

Composer of the test piece, Professor Peter Graham told 4BR: "Black Dyke's performance was full of character and brought the very best of my music out."

Raising awareness

Black Dyke has committed itself to the concert to help Mencap in raising awarness of the work it undertakes with people with special needs, and it will be the first time Dyke has played in Wigan for 17 years.

Looking forward to it

Nick Childs added: "It's a long time since we last played here, and all the band is looking forward to it, as it gives us the opportunity to say thanks to so many of our supporters."

Tickets

The concert takes place on Thursday 22nd October at the Robin Park Sports Centre, starting at 8.00pm. There are still a few tickets left, but the full house signs have already been printed!
