Christmas cheer for Dodworth

Santa has brought some early Chrsitmas prezzies for Dodworth.

Dodworth

Christmas cheer has arrived early for Dodworth Colliery Band, as they announce some new arrivals for the start of 2010.

Welcomed

The band have welcomed Alan Garbutt on principal cornet and Sarah Marson on 1st horn, both of whom played previously with Old Silkstone Band.

The principal cornet seat had been vacant for a while after previous incumbant Josh Green had taken up a career as a musician in the Royal Marines.

Santas prezzies

After several key players moved from the band, the outlook was not looking that favourable, but Santa appears to have brought some Christmas cheer with the news that a number of quality players have now joined the ranks in time for the start of the 2010 contesting season.

It shows the belief and work ethics of the band have proven themselves and attracted some quality key players to the organisationMD, Eliot Darwin

Belief

The Band's MD Eliot Darwin told 4BR: "It shows the belief and work ethics of the band have proven themselves and attracted some quality key players to the organisation."

Secretary Rob Loukes told 4BR: "We are now looking for continued success at the Butlins Mineworkers Championships in January and to do well at the Yorkshire Regional Championships which are approaching fast."
