Thornbury Castle Band have recently appointed a new Musical Director Geraint Barnes.

In the very short time that Geraint has been with the band he has brought lots of new ideas and masses of enthusiasmThornbury Castle Band

New ideas

The band were formerly the Thornbury Junior Band but became independent and renamed in 1990 as Thornbury Castle Band and has a healthy mix of children and adults.

A spokesperson told 4BR: "In the very short time that Geraint has been with the band he has brought lots of new ideas and masses of enthusiasm."

Contest debut

The band has recently performed in a number of carol concerts in the Thornbury area and have created a new web-site.

The spokesperson added: "It's a really exciting time to be at the band at the moment as it plans to compete in Section D for its first ever time in 2010 and to undertake many concerts and record a CD later in the year."
