Dinnington Colliery Band secures reported million pound recording deal.

After being part of a high profile advertising campaign for the BBC 2 programme ‘A Band for Britain’, it has been revealed that Dinnington Colliery Band has secured what is reported to be a £1 million recording contract.

The report in the Daily Mail newspaper states that the band, which will compete in the Fourth Section of the Yorkshire Regional Championships in Bradford on Sunday, has secured the deal with music giants Universal.

It is understood that Universal Music/Decca has agreed a sizeable advance that will allow Dinnington to pay off debts and build a new rehearsal room4BR

The report states that the band secured the seven figure deal just before Christmas and have already recorded their first album 'Band for Britain', which will be released next week.

High profile boost

The BBC 2 programme will begin screening on Monday and received a further high profile boost when presenter Sue Perkins was interviewed on the BBC ‘One Show’ programme with Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakly on Thursday evening.
