This Saturday, 11 members of Lydbrook Band and 11 members of the City of Bristol Band will join with the University of West of England (UWE) for a performance of William Walton’s mighty oratorio, 'Belshazzar’s Feast'.
The event, which takes place at Bristol’s Colston Hall, will feature a Symphony Orchestra of 80, a chorus of 250 voices and two brass bands.
The production will be directed by Ian Holmes, Director of the Centre for Performing Arts at UWE Bristol. Ian is well known in the area for his work with a number of brass bands and as an Eb Tuba player with the former Sun Life Stanshawe Band.
The evening will also feature the world premiere of a fanfare for 40 brass instruments by Adrian Hull, composer and lecturer in performing arts at UWE and Sibelius’ tone poem 'Finlandia'.
