Blidworth set for radio appearance

The 30th anniversary of the Blidworth Band is to be celebrated on air next week.

Representatives of Blidworth Welfare Band will be guests this Monday 17th May on BBC Radio Nottingham’s afternoon show, hosted by Richard Spurr.

They will be talking about the history of the band, which was formed 30 years ago this year.

Principal cornet player Andrew Street told 4BR: "Tune in and have a listen. Not only is 2010 a special anniversary year for the band, but the band hopes to earn the National title in September which would complete the celebrations very nicely. The band is doing exceptional well under MD Martin Heartfield and we are looking forward to creating some history for themselves."

April 3 • We have vacancies for a trombone player and a bass player. Cleethorpes Band rehearse near the seafront on Thursday and Sunday evenings. Placed 3rd in the NOE 4th section. Other players are always welcome as we may be able to switch positions around
