Newtown Silver Band recently welcomed five new players to its ranks.

Trio

A trio of them come from the Wood family, with mother Gilly and daughter Katy on second/third cornet and son Robi on EEb Bass.

Duet

Also joining is Osian Davies on principal trombone and David Dart on second trombone.

Helen Bennett told 4BR: "All these players are, or have been, members of the North Powys Youth Band and Osian was recently awarded the 'Best Soloist' award at the Gwent Music Festival."
