Cornish Youth to welcome new recruits

If you wish to be part of the Cornish Youth Brass Band then now is the time to make your move and book your place under Allan Withington and Robert Childs.

The Cornwall Youth Brass Band is now inviting young brass players to apply for membership of the band for the new season, which starts in September.

Oldest youth band

Monthly rehearsals are held at Truro College, with two Residential Courses at Christmas and Easter held at Truro High School for Girls.

With around 75 musicians the Cornwall Youth Brass Band is the oldest County Youth Band in the UK, having been founded in 1955.

Interested applicants should be between 10 and 21 years old and have achieved a standard of at least Grade 4 to 5Organisers

Guests

The guest conductors this season are Dr Robert Childs, MD of the Cory Band, and Allan Withington, Professional Conductor of Grimethorpe Colliery Band. Joining them for the course will be Grimethorpe’s principal euphonium player, Michael Dodd.

Monthly rehearsals in preparation for the four day courses are taken by the team of local tutors.

Applications

Interested applicants should be between 10 and 21 years old and have achieved a standard of at least Grade 4 to 5.
