Coalburn's Royal opening

The Princess Royal is set to give the opening few beats of life to Coalburn's new bandhall.

Coalburn

Last summer Coalburn Silver Band embarked on an extensive and exciting project to totally refurbish their band hall premises.

Royal opening

And to celebrate the completion of the project it has been anounced that HRH The Princess Royal will officially open the refurbished Bandhall on Monday 6th September.

Plans are well advanced and as part of the visit, two short presentations will be made to her on the history of Coalburn Silver Band and the refurbishment project.

The band are absolutely thrilled by the visit of Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal. This is without doubt the greatest occasion in the bands 108 year historyAlan Court

Thereafter the current Third Section Scottish Band of the Year will give a short concert followed by the Princess Royal unveiling a plaque to commemorate the day.

Great and good

MSP Karen Gillon, Councillor Alex Mcinness and President of the Scottish Brass Band Association, George Burt will also be present to enjoy the proceedings.

Band President Alan Court told 4BR: "The band are absolutely thrilled by the visit of Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal. This is without doubt the greatest occasion in the bands 108 year history."
