Tong save Leyland's day

There was welcome entente cordial between England and Wales at the Royal Albert Hall on the weekend...

Royal Albert Hall

The Leyland Band found a welcome in the hillsides at the National Finals in London on the weekend, when due to a mix up in rehearsal venues, they seemed destined to be left without the chance of a final run through 'Terra Australis' before they took to the Albert Hall stage.

Connections

Thankfully, MD Philip Harper’s connections with Tongwynlais Temperance saw the Welsh outfit offer the use of their early morning rehearsal venue after they had put the final touches to their preparations before their early number 4 draw at the contest.

Predicament

Leyland Band spokesperson Vicky Laurens told 4BR: "We found ourselves in a real predicament on Saturday morning but Tongwynlais came to the rescue to enable us to put the final touches to our preparation. After coming 5th we are very pleased, and it goes to show that there is still a great deal of friendship, help and support in top class banding."
