Rejuvenated Welbeck

A rejuvenated Welbeck Estates Band will be making a long overdue contesting return at Butlins next year.

Welbeck

Welbeck Estates Brass Band is enjoying life again after singing a clutch of new players and a new young conductor.

Return

The band began life back in 1981 but did not compete until 1985. Although they have competing on and off since, the last time they took to the stage was at Butlins in 2007.

And with these new signings to celebrate the band will make their long awaited reappearance, appropriately enough at the Butlins Mineworkers Championship in January.

Ambitious

Secretary Sue Hare told 4BR: "Our new conductor Rob Deakin is young and extremely ambitious, has a few years experience under his belt and is currently playing cornet himself at the highest level."

Sue added: "Rob has just completed his degree course and is currently doing his masters at Leeds College of Music. The band has had some changes over the last few months and now only really need horn players to complete the line up."
