New signings at Flowers

Flowers start to fill the ranks ahead of Brass in Concert challenge.

Flowers

The Flowers Band has announced new exciting signings following their appearance at the National Finals in London.

Departures

Although the band lost four players prior to the Albert Hall one departure is only temporary as bass trombone player James Case is taking a year out to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Rugby World Cup Finals in New Zealand in 2011.

A previously reported, long serving baritone player Carolyn Chandler has taken up a new and exiting musical career whilst Steve ‘Weenie’ Jones has left to join current British Open Champions Tredegar. The fourth member to leave to concentrate of his studies at Wells Cathedral School was Carlton Sykes.

A band spokesperson told 4BR: "We thank Carolyn, Steve and Carlton for their service to Flowers Band and wish them well for the future."

The band hopes to announce further signings before their appearance at Brass in Concert under Garry Cutt on the 21st November4BR

Arrivals

Replacing Carlton on Eb Bass is Nick Collier from Rothwell, whilst Ben Stratford comes in from Lydbrook on baritone.

The band has been very busy since the Nationals Finals, with a concert for their old sponsor and a joint concert with Thundersley Band, whilst they also donned their actor’s garb to film a new kids TV Show called ‘The Find Out Line’.

The band hopes to announce further signings before their appearance at Brass in Concert under Garry Cutt on the 21st November.
