Australian Besson Artist Matthew van Emmerik flies out to Bangkok today to play with Croatia's XL Tuba quartet.

Last Minute

This group are made up of professional musicians from the Zagreb Philharmonic, and Matthew was called in at the last minute to fill in for a member unable to travel due to a family illness.

Opportunity

Its going to be a great trip playing with my friends from the XL quartet, we have worked together in Sydney a couple of years ago, so when Kruno, the manager of the quartet contacted me I jumped at the opportunity.Matthew van Emmerik

Matthew said: "Its going to be a great trip playing with my friends from the XL quartet, we have worked together in Sydney a couple of years ago, so when Kruno, the manager of the quartet contacted me I jumped at the opportunity."

"This year has been a busy one for myself conducting St Marys and being away from the euphonium for most of the year, so I'm looking forward to kicking into 2011 with an enjoyable trip, and some focus back on the instrument."

Details

Matthew will present two concerts with the XL Tuba quartet on Nov 25th, 6pm at Yamaha Showroom, Music Square, G Fl. Siam Discovery, BTS Siam and Nov 26th, 7pm at Mahidol University, Salaya, Music Bldg. Room 407.

Other activities include masterclasses and individual tuition for students from Thailand and Asia.
