The Dinnington Colliery Band was pipped at the post at the Royal Television Society Awards held in Manchester on the weekend.

At the plush Hilton Hotel, the television series ‘A Band for Britain’ was just beaten to the honours in the ‘Reality Television’ category by the entrepreneurial X Factor series ‘Dragon's Den’. Band representatives had a great time mixing and having photographs taken with various celebrities.

Band spokesperson Ian Close told 4BR: "To be nominated from all the Reality Shows televised over the year is a great achievement, but to miss by such a narrow margin over shows such as Jeremy Kyle and Jeremy Clarkson is more than we could have wished for."
