Markham Main Colliery Band has been boosted by the appointment of a new MD in Bob Woffinden.

Markham Main Colliery Band has announced the appointment of Bob Woffinden as their new Musical Director.

Wealth of experience

Bob comes to the band with a wealth of experience both as a player with Dodworth Colliery, Yorkshire Imperial and Old Silkstone and as a conductor with Cresswell Colliery.

The band is already benefiting from his experience and are looking forward to moving the band forward with a renewed vigour

Awards

Meanwhile, the band recently made presentations at their annual dinner at Scarborough Barracks in Doncaster.

Lyn Howard (cornet) received the award for the 'Most Improved Player', whilst John Doubtfire (soprano) received the award for 'Bandsperson of the Year'. A further presentation was made to Glen Helliwell (cornet) for his services to the band over a number of years.
