56th Cornish Championships

Details of the 56th Cornish Brass Band Championships have been released to 4BR.

The 56th running of the popular Cornish Brass Band Championships will be held on Saturday 14th May, at Tremough Campus, Penryn, near Falmouth, with over £1300 in prize money on offer.

Changes

This is much later than in previous years, but the date as well as the running schedule has been changed as a result of a survey of member bands. One of the most important changes is that there is now no registration for the Entertainment Section and bands may play up to 35 players.

No age limit

Fran Calver told 4BR: "There is no age limit for Training Band members, but the section is meant for players who are not competing in other sections. This means that adult learners can be included in the contesting band."

Bands may enter their own graded section and/or any higher section – the reason being that some bands choose not to enter the Regional Contest, but would like to play against bands who do.
