Friary get Fairey helping hand

The latest recruit to the Friary Guildford Band hasn't had to change much on his registration card.

Friary Guildford

The latest recruit to high flying Friary Guildford Brass is Matt Gilbert, who joins the London based outfit on solo cornet.

Delighted

Matt, who moved to the area 5 months ago, previously played for Fairey (Geneva) Band as well as Jaguar (Coventry) Band.

"I'm delighted to join Friary Guildford Band at a time when they've been promoted to the Championship Section," Matt told 4BR.

"They have great drive and ambition and I'm looking forward to doing my bit to help continue the success they've been enjoying."

Real coup

Band Chairman Tim Gregory added: "It's a real coup to attract as good a cornet player as Matt. He'll be a real asset now that we're up against Championship opposition."

Friary Guildford Band will have their first taste of life in the Championship Section when they compete in the Regional Finals at Stevenage on Sunday 20th March.

Open up

They are to hold an open rehearsal to run through their test piece on Sunday 13th March at Greenfields School, Woking, from 3.00pm to 5.00pm.
