Advert: Glyn Williams Musical Instruments

Sterling Instruments and Glyn Williams Musical Instruments to work with David Thornton.

Glyn Williams

Sterling Instruments in association with Glyn Williams Musical Instruments have announced with immediate effect that they will be working alongside David Thornton to further develop and promote the Sterling Virtuoso Euphonium.

Forefront

Founder and owner of Sterling, Paul Riggett told 4BR: "David has been at the forefront of euphonium playing for more than a decade now and his career as a soloist and educator is in the ideal position to promote our instruments throughout the world."

New horizons

David added: "I have really liked the instruments I have played in the last few years, but am now finding new horizons with the Sterling Euphoniums.

There are various things I've always looked for when testing instruments — good response, singing high range, good mechanics and an all round good 'feel'. Most importantly you get a sense of the 'natural' sound of an instrument. This was what immediately struck me about the Sterling models — it was the sound I was looking for — and I didn't find this in other euphoniums."

The euph star is excited at the match up: "It's an exciting time for euphonium players as the range of options throughout the market has never been so strong. I've spent the last few weeks trying out different brands and models, and it has been an enlightening time.

I'm very pleased that I have found an instrument that allows me to sound at my best."

New partnership

Glyn Williams also commented on the exciting new partnership: "I have been playing the Sterling Virtuoso Euphonium for nearly five years now and it gives me great satisfaction to see more and more high quality players especially a world renowned musician like David Thornton choose to play the same instrument."

Hand built

The Virtuoso Euphonium is hand built at the Sterling factory in the UK and EVERY prospective customer has the opportunity to pick their own instrument which is tailor made to their own specifications.

Ideal instrument

David first visited the factory in December 2010 trying and testing every option and has now chosen his ideal instrument.
