White joins Black Dyke

Horn star Sheona White has joined Black Dyke.

As has been widely reported, Sheona White has been confirmed as the new principal horn at Black Dyke.

International reputation

Director of Music Dr Nicholas Childs told 4BR: "Sheona has an international reputation as one of the world's finest tenor horn players. Her sound and artistry are the hallmarks of her terrific talent."

Sheona added: "I'm very excited about playing again after quite some time, and to open a new chapter of my career with Black Dyke. I am really looking forward to being a part of a great band."

First appearance

The horn star joins with immediate effect and will make her first appearance with the band in concert this weekend.

Band Secretary Mike Shenton added: "Dr Childs and the band would like to thank Alex Kerwin who has decided to move from horn to solo cornet. Alex is a wonderful person, very talented, and always puts the band first."
