Newtown hand out awards

There was music and awards at NewtoWn Silver's recent Annual Concert.

There was an excellent attendance to enjoy the Annual Concert and Presentations of the Newtown Silver Band held recently at the local All Saints Church.

Music

The first half of the concert was provided by the Training Band and the Learners Band and the second half was taken over by the Senior Band, all under the direction of MD, Steve Edwards.

During the second half the Senior Band played a varied programme which included, ‘Resurgam’, which the band played at the Welsh Regional Contest in Swansea.

Presentations

Presentations were made to those achieving awards during the past 12 months, with the award as the most improved player in the Learner Band going to Harriet Tolley aged 8.

The Training Band Shield for the most improved player was won by Dylan Nutting and the Band Person of the Year went to William Hughes.
The Senior Band presentations saw awards go to Adam Jones, David Gardner, Osian Davies, Becky Youd, Neil Bennett, David Dart and Paul Lloyd.

Person of the Year

The Senior Band ‘Person of the Year’, went to Eifion Thomas whilst the Ian Bainbridge Memorial Cup went to Band Treasurer Dot Griffiths for her outstanding contribution to the band over the past year.
