6th Gwent Solo & Quartet Competition

Entrants are required for the solo and quartet contest in Gwent.

Following the highly successful Solo & Quartet Contest last year, the 6th Solo, Quartet & Ensemble Contest organised by Gwent Music Support Service will take place on Saturday 4th June at the YMCA, Mendalgief Road, Newport.

Looking forward

The Solo & Quartet Contest will be open to bands from outside of the Gwent Youth Band structure and the organisers look forward to receiving applications from these bands.

There will again be an Ensemble class, and this will be available to a maximum of 12 players including percussion.

Childs & Holland

The adjudicators for the day will be Joanne Childs and Paul Holland.

The closing date for all entries is Friday 20th May, and copies of the rules, classes and entry forms can be obtained by emailing Chris Turner at chris.turner47@sky.com

April 3 • We have vacancies for a trombone player and a bass player. Cleethorpes Band rehearse near the seafront on Thursday and Sunday evenings. Placed 3rd in the NOE 4th section. Other players are always welcome as we may be able to switch positions around

April 2 • . Tintwistle Band are looking for a 2nd horn player to help complete the team.. We rehearse Monday and Thursday 8-10pm at our own bandroom on Old Road in Tintwistle, and perform a variety of concerts all year round.
