Leyland land Landon

Leyland sign Rebecca Landon on solo horn in time for English Nationals and persuade Billy Millar to don the famous whites again.

Leyland

Leyland has announced the appointment of Rebecca Landon as their new solo horn.

Originally from Saddleworth, Rebecca now lives in Leyland, and until recently held the same position at Hepworth Band.

Delighted

"I’m delighted to welcome Rebecca to the band," commented Richard Evans, Leyland’s professional Musical Director to 4BR. "She’s a player of great quality and commitment, and her appointment is a tremendous boost."

Calibre

"To sign a player of Rebecca’s calibre is fantastic news," added Band Administrator Iain McKnight. "Of course, we have been lucky to have a superb solo horn player for the last eighteen months in Andy Moore, and we are pleased that he will remain with us. His move to first horn will allow him to devote more time to his university studies, and is a commendable display of bandsmanship on his part."

Miller return

Leyland is also delighted that euphonium star Bill Millar will perform with the band at the forthcoming English Nationals.

"Bill is one of the finest euphonium players around," remarked Iain, "...so we were quick to approach him to cover the second euphonium seat for Preston. It will be great to see Bill in his Leyland whites once again."
