Oakdale's Big Blow

The Oakdale Band will be going that extra musical mile...

Oakdale Silver Band will be attempting a marathon ‘blow’ this weekend.

The band will be playing for 24 hours from 7pm on Friday 10th June till 7pm on Saturday 11th in order to raise funds for instruments and to enable them to take part in more contests.

Oakdale has turned around its fortunes in the last year and we need to repair or purchase instruments to help us continue with our success in contests and work our way up the brass band rankingsOakdale Band

Turn around

The blow will be launched by Mayor of Caerphilly County Borough, Councillor Vera Jenkins.

Chairman, Natalie Rogers told 4BR: "Oakdale has turned around its fortunes in the last year and we need to repair or purchase instruments to help us continue with our success in contests and work our way up the brass band rankings."

Raise profile

They added: "The marathon blow is a chance for us to raise our profile in the local community and raise some much-needed funds."
