Results: Morley March & Hymn Tune

Marsden take the honours at Morley by boosting their Whit Friday weekend funds.

Marsden Silver, conducted by Paul Andrews took the honours at the Morely March & Hymn Tune Contest on Sunday, pocketing an impressive £660 in the process.

Knight Templar

Playing the march, ‘Knight Templar’ they won both sections of the contest to claim the first prize of £500 by a commanding seven-point margin over Yorkshire Imperial DUT with Thoresby in third.

With the addition of individual awards Marsden’s prize fund was boosted to £660, with Imps picking up £375 and Thoresby £175.

Pleased

Despite three withdrawals on the day, the organisers were pleased with the response of the bands on what was a busy weekend due to the Whit Friday event and Father’s Day.

Section prizes of £100 were qwon by Kippax, Garforth and City of Bradford, whilst Shirland Youth took the Best Youth Award of £60.

Yorkshire Imps won the ‘Best Road March’ award with Sellers Youth taking the Deportment prize.
