US Open announces adjudicators

Brass Bands International is pleased to announce the adjudicators for this year’s
US Open Brass Band Championships to be held on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at the Norris Cultural Arts Center in St. Charles, IL.

Serving as chief judge is Dr. Dale Lonis, who has adjudicated for several past Opens. Dr. Lonis is a highly sought-after conductor, clinician and adjudicator. He currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer of the Elgin Symphony, having held a similar post with the Winnipeg Symphony in Manitoba, Canada.

The US Open is pleased to welcome Dr. Jay Kennedy to this year’s judging panel. Jay is Vice President for Academic Affairs and Vice Provost at Berklee College of Music in Boston. A prolific composer and arranger, Jay has written for films, television, and radio as well as numerous recording artists. He is a Clio award winner as well as a Grammy finalist and is an accomplished percussionist.
