New signings at Tong

Tongwynlais Temperance head to Scotland this weekend bouyed by a raft of new signings.

Welsh challengers Tongwynlais Temperance will head to Perth this weekend for the Scottish Open Championship buoyed by a number of new signings.

Signings

Josh Ruck comes in on back row cornet, whilst Huw Evans takes the 2nd euphonium seat, Dafydd Thomas joins on 2nd trombone and Shaun Rigby links up on the percussion section.

Joining on Bb Bass is Kazu Kouno, an international student who joins from Japan, and who is currently studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama.

These new signings further strengthen the band and with Phil Harper at the helm, we are looking forward to making the trip to Scotland to represent Wales at the contestJason Bevan

Experience

The experienced Chris Howley takes the principal cornet chair, whilst former top man Gareth Hann returns to the band after a period away to replace Vicky Kennedy who has moved onto the solo cornet bench.

Band Chairman Jason Bevan told 4BR: "These new signings further strengthen the band and with Phil Harper at the helm, we are looking forward to making the trip to Scotland to represent Wales at the contest."

New bandroom

The band is also making final preparations for the move to their new band room. When complete with rehearsal and recording facilities Tongwynlais will once again have a permanent home and are looking forward to moving in over the Christmas period.
