Listen to the Band

Frank Renton presents recordings of some great live performances which capture all the excitement and tension of playing to an audience, big or small.

If, for example, you had turned up at the supposedly second string 'B' band performance at the European Championships in 2005 you would have heard the wonderful playing of Hans Ganch, formerly principal trumpet of the Vienna Philharmonic, playing with Brass Band Oberosterreich.

We hear two performances from the Royal Albert Hall, make a stopover in Stavangar, call in at Bridgewater Hall for Black Dyke and recall the 1990 All England Masters from Master Brass Volume 1, the longest running series of 'live' recordings, now at Volume 22.
