The Co-operative Funeralcare Band has been preparing for the 2012 contesting season with the appointment of a new Band Manager.

Martin Stack, a former Bb Bass player with Kingdom Brass has recently taken up the role from the highly respected Rob McCorkell who will remain as a band representative.

Honour

Martin told 4BR: "I’m very honoured to be appointed Band Manager. When the role was offered me I accepted without hesitation. It’s not every day that a band of the calibre of Co-operative Funeralcare come calling."

Martin has already been very busy in the last month or so working on new player signings and professional conductor appointments.

I’ve worked with Martin on projects in the past and he always impressed me with his managerial skills and his tenacity to succeed. He is an ideal choice for this very busy and demanding rolePaul Kiernan

Ideal choice

Band Chairman Paul Kiernan added: "I’ve worked with Martin on projects in the past and he always impressed me with his managerial skills and his tenacity to succeed. He is an ideal choice for this very busy and demanding role."

He added: "The band would like to take this opportunity to thank Robert McCorkell for all his hard work and dedication in the Band Manager role over the past few years. Robert will now be able to relax a little in his role as librarian and band representative."
