In and out at Ton

Scottish Open champion Tongwynlais has said hello and goodbye to some players...

Tin

Christmas has proven to be a busy time for Scottish Open champion Tongwynlais Temperance, as not only has the band moved into its new rehearsal facilities but have also been busy on the player recruitment front too.

Goodbye

After many years service the highly respected baritone player David Osborne has retired from banding.

Chairman Jason Bevan told 4BR: "Oz played a pivotal role on solo baritone and gave some great performances on the contest stage. A dedicated bandsman through-and-through, we’re sad to see him leave and wish him well in his retirement."

We start the new season buoyed by a successful end to 2011, and these new signings further strengthen the bandJason Bevan

New players

Russ Lock will take on the solo baritone role, whilst Carlton Sykes joins on Eb Bass and the band welcomes back Charlotte Chambers on solo cornet following her stint at Cory.

Jason added: "We start the new season buoyed by a successful end to 2011, and these new signings further strengthen the band. Under Phil Harper’s direction we are looking forward to competing at this year’s Mineworker’s Championship in Butlins."
