March and hymn set in Newtown

A new March & Hymn Tune contest is set to take place in Newtown in Mid Wales later this year.

Newtown Silver Band will be holding its first March & Hymn Tune Contest in June this year.

Diamond Jubilee

Together with Newtown Carnival Committee and supported by Newtown Town Council the vent will take place in Newtown Hall grounds on Sunday 10th June and will be the culmination of the town’s ‘Diamond Jubilee’ Celebrations.

The contest will be open to bands in the Second, Third and Fourth Sections graded nationally and Non-registered and Youth bands.

Prizes

There will be trophies and prize money in the region of £1000. The contest will include a march along High Street into the town hall grounds which will be judged on presentation and deportment.

Further details
