Elland starters

The prize winning Elland Silver Band is ensuring that they keep up their production line of players

Elland

The Elland Silver Band has continued to build on its community based music education policy by launching a new 'Starter Brass Class'.

The new class will begin after the Easter holidays and is specifically aimed at children who have just started playing a brass or percussion instruments or who would like to start to learn to play.

Grant help

Thanks to a grant of £1105.00 from Calderdale Community, the band will offer free instrument hire to all new members.

Children will be given the opportunity to play together and provided with tuition by Samantha Harrison and David Armitage.

Best tuition

Sam told 4BR: "Our aim is to give children a good start to their musical education. We will have fun, but also ensure we set good standards to aspire to and we know how important it is to provide the best tuition possible. You never know, we may unearth the next principal cornet of Black Dyke!"

Over the past fifteen years Elland has invested in developing an excellent music education programme for young people in Calderdale.
