Death of Point of Ayr stalwart

The death has been announced of former Point of Ayr Band Chairman, Jim Mealor.

 

4BR has been informed of the sad passing of Jim Mealor, a stalwart member of the Point of Ayr Band.

Foundation

Former member Peter Denton told 4BR: "Jim was one of the foundation stones of the Point of Ayr Band. He was the BBb Bass player who was always there, and who always made it enjoyable to play in the same section and same band as him."

Highly respected

He added: "A highly respected Chairman, he would do anything in his power to keep the band going – from fixing vehicles to making sure the band competed at contests. His was a remarkable life of dedicated service and commitment."

Funeral details:

The funeral will be held on Monday 23rd July at 1.00pm at All Saints’ Church, Ffonnyngroyw.

Crematorium at 2.30 followed by gathering at Stanford Gate Hotel.
Flowers from family only with donations to charity.
