10 CDs

We have dipped into our Christmas stocking and come up with an eclectic selection box of 10 CDs — from Maynard Ferguson on ‘Chameleon’ to Foden’s with ’King Arthur’ – as well as plenty of odd musical stops in between for you to enjoy.

We have even popped in one that has Christmas music on it for 2013...

There are CDs from Brett Baker, Enfield Citadel, GUS and Tredegar as well as highlights from the 2012 Nationals and Song of Exultation.

we want you to guess in which year did the National Championships of Great Britain last pay out its first prize in old fashioned pre-decimal Guineas?4BR

Quiz Question:

Given that this year sees the first ever £10,000 first prize ever to be awarded for a brass band contest – we want you to guess in which year did the National Championships of Great Britain last pay out its first prize in old fashioned pre-decimal Guineas?

A: 1945
B: 1955
C: 1965

Clues

The only clues are that it was the year Boosey & Hawkes announced the end of the manufacturing of high pitched instruments, Winston Churchill died and Liverpool won the FA Cup for the first time.

Closing date:

All answers for this one must be in by midnight on New Year’s Eve!

Christmas Day winner

We had a great response to our Boxing Day quiz, with Andy Arnold leaving it as late as Javier Hernandez at Old Trafford to bag the winner with the correct answer:

David Childs is an avid Manchester United fan!
