Christmas awards for Lofthouse

Some Lofthouse 2000 players had a little something extra in their stocking this Christmas...

Lofthouse 2000 in action

Lofthouse 2000 recently handed out their annual awards at their Christmas concert.

Most improved

The ‘Most Improved Player’ awarded by MD Andrew Whitaker, went to horn player Sarah Kerrigan in recognition of her outstanding progress over the past 12 months, whilst ‘Section of the Year’ went to the horns and flugel.

The ‘Bandsman of the Year’ award, voted for by the band members themselves was claimed bass trombone, John Geary for his outstanding commitment and the ‘Committee Award’ went to Bill Smith for his help in running the B Band during the last 12 months.

Awards also went to Ruth Fawthrop as ‘B Band Most Improved Player’, Adam Richardson as ‘B Band Bandsperson of the Year’ and Jess Suggitt as ‘C Band Most Improved Player’.

Presentation

During the evening a presentation was made to Peter Kitson, who until recently had been conductor of the B Band. The band’s president Mel Waring presented a framed band tie to Peter in recognition for his outstanding services to the Lofthouse organisation.

Frank will be sorely missed and I would like to thank him for everything he has done for the band in the past. Everyone wishes him well for the future in his retirementMD, Andrew Whitaker

Retire

Sadly the band had to say goodbye to Frank Feltell, Eb bass, who has decided to retire.

MD Andrew Whitaker told 4BR: "Frank will be sorely missed and I would like to thank him for everything he has done for the band in the past. Everyone wishes him well for the future in his retirement."
