Lions team up with Double champions

Lions Youth team up with the new 4BR Band of the Year for next major recording project.

Lions Youth

Lions Youth Brass and Musical Director Nigel Birch has announced that they will be assisted by the newly crowned 4BR Band of the Year and 2012 ‘Double’ champions Foden’s to help them with their next major project.

Recording

This is a two day CD recording to take place in February, where along with some great concert items and a selection of solos from the bands own array of talented musicians, they will also feature solos from Foden’s trombone star John Barber and euphonium virtuoso Glyn Williams.

Foden’s Resident Conductor Mike Fowles will also be assisting with the preparation and production of the recording, which will features works by composers Andy Scott, Ian Raisbeck, Dr. Peter Meechan, Kevin Birch and even a duet by the Foden’s legend Harry Mortimer.

Commissioned

The recording has been commissioned by Sandbach Lions Club and will be supported by Glyn Williams Music.

Glyn has recently supplied the band with new Sterling instruments in conjunction with a lottery award which Lions received from the Arts Council of England. The recording will also be supported by the new Love Music Trust music service of which Lions Youth Brass are a partner.

I have always regarded it as my remit to give my players the best musical tuition, and to expose them to the best musicians in the brass band movement as often as is possibleNigel Birch

Remit

Nigel Birch told 4BR: "I have always regarded it as my remit to give my players the best musical tuition, and to expose them to the best musicians in the brass band movement as often as is possible.

By bringing Foden’s to our band I believe I am bringing the very best, and the fact we are based in the same town should be viewed with great pride by the people of Sandbach."
