New principal in place at Camborne

Darren Hendy takes on the principal role at Camborne.

Camborne

Camborne Band has announced the appointment of Darren Hendy as their new principal cornet.

It follows the news that Mark Leigh has stood down from the end chair after providing long and dedicated service to the band.

Impressive

Camborne Chairman Nick Sanders told 4BR: "Darren has one of the most impressive cornet CVs in the South West. He is a former solo cornet the Cornwall Youth Band and played with the GUS Band under Bramwell Tovey.

Darren held the principal seat at Camborne during the 90’s with great distinction winning numerous solo award in the process—a real a mainstay of their success during that time."

Delighted

Nick added: "We are delighted to have a player of his ability in our ranks and look forward to officially welcoming him to the band later this month. The band would like to thank Mark for his time with Camborne and wish him well for the future."

I’m delighted to accept the position with Camborne, following in the footsteps of some great cornet playersDarren Hendy

Footsteps

Darren himself told 4BR: "I’m delighted to accept the position with Camborne, following in the footsteps of some great cornet players. It will be a great privilege to work with the band as they enter a new era."
